Why we built this
I've been a contractor for 30 years. IT, finance, media, transport, utilities — I've worked across them all, run my own limited company, filed my own VAT returns, managed my own payroll, and watched my accounting fees go up. Every. Single. Year.
When I started contracting in 1996, I was paying around £40 a month. By 2006 that had risen to £60. Today that same package from the same provider costs £135. That's more than a 200% increase in under 30 years — way above inflation.
I only ever needed a screwdriver, but had to pay for the full toolbox. Landlord tax? CIS returns? Cashflow Forecasting? Not for me. I was Vanilla — a one-man limited company — and everything I needed fitted neatly into a small, well-defined set of services.

I'm Chris. I'm an AATQB qualified bookkeeper, a CII qualified mortgage broker, and I've spent three decades as a contractor. We built the service we always wished existed.

What we don't do
Staying focused is how we stay great at what we do. These aren't gaps — they're decisions.
No Landlord Tax
Property income, SDLT, rental accounts — not our area. We serve contractors, not property portfolios.
No CIS Contractors
Construction Industry Scheme has its own complexities. We focus on Limited Companies only.
No Multi-Employee Businesses
If you employ people beyond a director's salary, we're not the right fit. Our service is calibrated for the one-man limited company.
No Cashflow Forecasting
We don't sell you services you won't use. Cashflow tools are great for growing businesses — but most contractors don't need them.
No IR35 Advice
IR35 status reviews require specialist employment law expertise. We'll always refer you to the right people, but it's outside our scope.
No Retailers or Traders
Product-based businesses, stock management, ecommerce — these need different accountancy tools. Not our expertise.
